The Enneagram is far more than a “personality assessment” (https://bit.ly/2MNe3XN). The modern Enneagram is a synthesis of ancient wisdom and modern psychology. It is a very rich system and a powerful tool for transformation which goes far beyond its popularity as a personality typing tool.
The Enneagram is not a tool for labeling or pigeon-holing people. We are NOT defined by our Enneagram type or our personality. We are much more than our personality. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/getting-out-box-your-personality-catherine-hayes/.
Hiring people based on a personality assessment feels inappropriate and unjust, after all, personality assessment tools are not infallible and identifying and understanding our Enneagram type is a more complex process than taking an assessment. Completing an Enneagram assessment is the starting point of understanding our Enneagram type. It is not the end of the journey.
The Enneagram is a complex system and is best understood with the guidance of someone who is an expert in the Enneagram. The most important aspect of determining our Enneagram type is self-reflection. It is not the assessment. Nobody can determine our type without our commitment to understanding ourselves.
Most importantly, the Enneagram is a tool for growth and transformation. It is incredibly powerful when used correctly. Using it for hiring is not an appropriate use of this rich system.
