Type Threes are in the heart center of the Enneagram. At their best, Type Threes are authentic and inspiring mentors. They are natural born leaders. They are goal oriented and high achievers, however, this is often in response to an unconscious need to prove they are valuable. They tend to be workaholics and often suffer from a sense of burnout when they work themselves to the ground.
They often become leaders and outstanding in their fields, however, this can come at the expense of living authentically and connecting to their heart’s desires. Although they are in the heart-center, they often are disconnected from their feelings and emotions.
When they can free themselves from their unconscious pattern of the need for approval and be seen as successful, their true gifts of authenticity, courage, and inspiration come through and they lead the team from a grounded place.
They don’t lose their ability to get things done and get them done well and efficiently, but they gain their ability to connect with their heart. At their best, they stay connected with their heart and share their capacities with the team by serving as mentors and role models while encouraging others to grow their capacities.
